    • Ph.D. in Statistics: Department of Statistics and OR. Title: Objective Bayes Criteria for Variable Selection.  Advisors: Susie Bayarri & Gonzalo García-Donato

I was born in Yecla, Murcia in 1982. I graduated in Mathematics (2005) and Statistics (2006) at the University of València and earned a PhD in Mathematics from the University of València in February 2011 under the supervision of Susie Bayarri and Gonzalo García-Donato with the thesis: “Objective Bayes Criteria for Variable Selection”. During the predoctoral period I visited The Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI) at the Research Triangle, Durham, North Carolina (USA, 2009) as well as the Statistical Lab of Cambridge University at Cambridge (UK, 2010).

After finishing my PhD, I worked at the Economics department of University Jaume I (Castellón) as a PostDoc for three years. During this time I collaborated in different projects applying statistical methods to economic and socio-political data.   In September 2014 I turned back to University of València as an assistant professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research.

My main lines of research can be summarized in:

1. Bayesian Variable Selection both from a methodological and an applied point of view.

2. Uncertainty quantification and variable selection for complex computer models.

3. Bayesian analysis of longitudinal or panel data.

Under these three research lines, I have worked in many different fields such as health, agriculture, economy, finance or biology and have developed collaborations with different international research teams in Spain, France or Australia and, in particular, with the SAGI SOUTH group sited at the University of Adelaide Biometry Hub.

I am part of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis and its Objective Bayes section from which I have been the secretary for the last 2 years; The Internacional Biometric Society through its Spanish Region, where I am part of its board of directors and The Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research (SEIO).

Finally I collaborate with several science dissemination projects such as StatWars: The Empire of Data  for the dissemination of Statistics and Data Science and Girls4STEM a project to promote scientific vocations, mainly among girls. Both projects have been funded by the Fundación Española para el Fomento de la Ciencia y la Tecnología, FECYT
